Coordination Difficulties
Coordination difficulties, also known as developmental coordination disorder (DCD), refer to difficulties in planning, organising, and carrying out physical movements. These challenges can impact a child’s ability to perform everyday tasks such as writing, tying shoelaces, fastening a button, catching a ball, running, or balancing. Coordination difficulties are not related to a lack of intelligence or a lack of effort, they stem from difficulties in how the brain and body work together to interpret instructions to perform physical tasks. These challenges can sometimes affect confidence and participation in play, school, social activities, and other activities of daily living.
