NHS Right to Choose
Understanding Right to Choose and what it means for you and your care.
What is NHS Right to Choose?
In England, NHS patients have a legal right to choose healthcare providers, this includes who carries out an autism, ADHD or combined assessment.
Via Right to Choose your GP may ask you to select the service you want (if deemed clinically appropriate), or you can ask them to refer you to us at Evolve. The assessment is paid for in full by your local NHS or your local Integrated Care Board- ICB.
As an approved NHS provider of autism and ADHD assessments for 0–19-year-olds (this is up until the 19th birthday) we hold multiple ICB contracts across England. We are able to also offer autism assessments for adults through Right to Choose, and all of our assessments are undertaken in accordance with the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (N.I.C.E) Guidance and are of a ‘gold standard’.
If you are a GP...
You can refer your patient to us by sending us a referral containing the following items:
Be addressed to:
Evolve Psychology Services, Windsor House, Cornwall Road, Harrogate, HG1 2PW
Be on surgery letter headed paper.
Clearly state that the patient is to be referred to Evolve Psychology Services for an Assessment under the NHS Right to Choose Legislation. Please note children need to be 3 years for the ASD assessment & 6 years for the ADHD assessment.
Please specify ONE assessment only and do not use phrasing such as “and/or”. If this is not clear, the referral will be returned for amendments.
Be signed off by a named GP.
Include a patient summary along with patient contact details (NHS number, address, and parents mobile phone number and email address)
If you are a parent or carer or would like an assessment yourself on the NHS Right to Choose pathway, please go to your GP to discuss this and ask them to refer to us here at Evolve Psychology.
